Let’s Get Back to Knitting
INTRODUCTION
Imagine this: your knitting needles and yarn, once your cherished companions, have been left untouched and forgotten. You, like many devoted knitters, have hit a slump. But fear not, for reigniting your knitting mojo is within reach. This post is crafted to guide you through the steps to rediscover your passion and get those needles moving once again.
The Virtue of Taking a Break. Breathe.
First and foremost, acknowledge that it’s okay to take a break. Knitting should be a source of joy, not a chore. Give yourself the space to breathe and the freedom to engage in other activities. Read that book you’ve been eyeing, take a stroll in the park, and let yourself miss the rhythm of the needles. This pause can be a powerful catalyst in reigniting your knitting desire.
Start with Small Steps
When you feel a hint of the old spark, start small. A colossal project can be daunting, so choose something simple and quick to complete, like a cozy hat or a pair of mittens. The satisfaction of finishing a project can work wonders in restoring your knitting mojo.
Declutter Your Supplies
One of the perks of being a knitter is also collecting yarn! For some of us (cough..cough) our stash is quite large. But over time, our tastes change. If walking into your yarn space or craft room is overwhelming, it may be time to declutter. Sell or donate the yarn that just isn’t doing it for you anymore. The same goes for notions, supplies, and books. By sorting through your stash and thinning it down to what you love, it just may spark the creativity that you’re seeking.
Start Something New
You have a whole pile of WIPs (works in progress) piled high in the corner, taunting you every time you walk in the room. If you have lost your mojo, now is not the time to stress about those unfinished projects. They are just not going to cut it. It might be time to start something entirely new. Pick some yarn that you absolutely love—perhaps a new colour or texture that you have always wanted to try. Next choose a pattern that you saved for the future. The future is now baby. Bust out a fresh, cute project bag, an adorable progress keeper, and cast on and enjoy. Something new and exciting to work on might just be what you need!
